Police Under Fire Near Abkhazia Border
TBILISI, GEORGIA - Abkhaz police in the town of Pichori, Abkhazia, close to the Abkhazia-Georgia border, sent an un-coded distress call on open frequency, stating that they have come under attack from rifle fire and are requesting reinforcement. It is unknown how large the Pichori police garrison is or how many assailants are involved in the conflict. The nationality of the assailants is also unknown. Russian peacekeepers are likely to respond.
