Regarding the current situation in the Caucasus
The Security Council,
Deeply concerned with the condition to which the situation in Georgia has degenerated,
Affirming its commitment to a negotiated settlement of the conflict in the Caucasus,
Welcoming further deliberation among the members of the Security Council to bring about a peaceful solution to the situation in the Caucasus,
1. Condemns acts of military violence that breach the sovereignty of UN member states, specifically those which endanger the lives of innocent civilians;
2. Demands an immediate cessation of military violence in the Caucasus region;
3. Calls for the immediate opening of multinational talks to end the military conflict currently taking place in Georgia.
